Pretty Sparkly Boy In Love With His Din Din

Yes I have noticed the hype of this little movie called Twilight that came from a book that at one brief time drew my attention. I put down the book at the time and bought a book about Russian history if I remember correctly. I always planned on maybe reading the book but never actually did. Now with the movie out and I have been sucked into the hype I am even more tempted to read the book. My friend and I decided to see the movie. She has read the book but has been ill from all the sap that is apparently in the book. The guy in the movie obviously so hot enough that she disregarded her fear of up-chucking from sap overdose. Since I haven't read it yet she prepared me by having me read this funny faux script: http://movies.msn.com/movies/galleryfeature/lost-twilight-script/?photoidx=1 . So there we were at an evening showing to Twilight with tweens and teens and the poor parents who came to chaperon them. Some were decked out in their Twilight gear and as my buddy sneered at the lameness of it all, I had to acknowledge that I did the same with the Pirates of the Caribbean (uh, hello! Johnny Depp on a t-shirt...when is that ever bad?) and of course my favorite scifi of all time STAR WARS! (in fact I have four or five shirts). She shook her head at me and I fully admitted to my geekness ( hey! I find no shame in that, I wear it like a bright red cape and tights) We were getting a little antsy because of our exhaustion from a long long week of work and we were hoping the movie would start already not for the anticipation for the actual film like all the girls around us but just because the sooner it started the sooner we could go home (man when did we get so old). Through the previews some girls were lightly demanding Twilight to come on. I was thinking ...dude get a grip you'll see the movie soon. As the movie started we could hear the girls in the theater ooh in excitement. We couldn't help but snicker at their reactions. I mean true I did that whenever I saw the Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Bourne movies and I almost shed a tear when Iron Man came on the screen but that was because I'm full on geek. They were oohing because of the hot vampire guy. (ok even though the boy is a few years younger than me I can't help but admit he is extremely delectable...oh wait that's what the character should be thinking) If you read the Lost Script you will understand why I had to bite back a laugh or two when the scenes of his flaring nostrils came on. Damn that shit was funny as hell. I was like...are you for real, seriously? I was trying so hard not to laugh so much but it was practically a losing battle and the laughs just kept coming. With Bella's and Edward's awkward moments, the dorky friends, the classic awkward "I don't know how to deal with a daughter" dad, that Jasper kid looking like he's got a major stick up his ass(not because of the attitude but because he really looks uncomfortable) and the sparklies (it's like ooh you're so pretty I want to wear you like diamonds). There is one scene however where I almost lost my control entirely. It was the make out session and I couldn't help having scenes from the Hulk come into mind. Think "I can't get excited cuz I might get angry" and see Edward struggle with "I can't get excited cuz I might eat you". Reminded me of the funny line with Bruce Banner with the guy and saying hungry instead of angry. Boy that would be fitting for Edward. I had to calm my ass down for the fear that I might piss off an angry herd of raging hormonal teenage girls by offending their fiendish romantic feelings for the movie. I don't remember ever being that obsessed about a romantic story; scifi yes very much so. In fact in high school while almost the whole female population was obsessing over Leonardo DiCaprio and a little movie called Titanic that they cried and gushed over, I laughed when Leo sank to the bottom of the cold dark ocean. Hey I have my sap moments but I do have my limits and while my friend gets nauseous I turn it into a comedy. In the end I enjoyed the movie and I'll most likely be seen reading all the books, getting obsessed and oohing with the rest of them or then again it'll be great for laughs.
