NEW FALL SEASON TRYING TO KEEP AWAY FROM NEW SHOWS

Okay so I think ya'll have figured out my unhealthy obsession with television. This season I have made sure to keep away from pilot season as much as possible. I already have my old favorites to contend with and I'm just glad some of it has lessened with cancellations and series finales and such. However one show has made it to my new list of shows but only because its from BBC. I have gotten hooked on the new show Primeval which is cool. It's like part Jurassic Park, Stargate and Sliders all at once. The characters are cool and Conner is your classic adorable geek while Steve is your hot sexy hero man and with Abbey being the turkey to Connors and Steve's ham and Swiss sandwich its just about perfect. I have managed to stay away from Fringe being that it is from J.J. Abrams I would probably end up hooked to that show since that is what happened with the others he's created. I checked out the first episode of the new 90210 though out of curiosity. I'm just glad that it sucked so bad I'm not at all interested in watching it ever again despite the fact that there is a hot dude playing one of the teachers. For one the promise that this isn't a try at being anything like the original went out the window as soon as two siblings, a brother and sister duo (ahem Brenda and Brendan anybody) coming from some hicks ville town moves into the upper class neighborhood. Oh sure they made a change by making the son adopted and of another race ( South of Nowhere did that already and better) but that's pretty much it. They both try to play these innocent and naive adolescents but frankly fail in like less than an hour. Oh and the brother just so happens to join the journalism class. Give me a break. Sure 90210 of our generation was still a tad bit campy to be taken too seriously and the drama was played out over and over again. But it was one of the first of its kind and at the time was on the edge with talking about things that teenagers do actually deal with. That's why it was at least a tad bit relatable. Kids however do not find themselves in the conundrum of should they or shouldn't they fly off with their boyfriend of two seconds and his private jet to have lunch in another city that is by car five hours away. Seriously how many teenagers do you know with that kind of problem. Not even having the two original characters Brenda and Kelly plus the lovable Peach Pit and its owner Nat helped make this show any better. It just made me miss the good old days of the real 90210 crew. Some things were just meant to stay in syndication and DVD. This show is one of them. Another new show called Privileged which is also in CW was okay. I missed the pilot but I saw the second episode because I was bored and busy eating a scoop of ice cream. I was just done watching The Ruby in the Smoke in Masterpiece Mysteries and thought why not watch that just to see it since I liked Joanna Garcia when she played the daughter in Reba. Well I didn't get much out of the episode except for the fact that Michael Cassidy was there whom I've always liked since he was in the O.C. and Hidden Palms, and the guy who plays the next door neighbor was cute. The privileged sisters however are obnoxious especially the eldest. Frankly how Joanna's character manages not to knock those pretty little teeth in is beyond me. Oh and the "woe is me" act of Joanna's little sister is a pain. I don't blame her one bit for pretending they aren't related. Other than that it's an okay show that will probably only last maybe a little less than a season. At least its better than the nu90210. Anywho that's it for now time to finish this off before my computer's broadband craps out on me again. Next time I might not be so lucky as to having the autosave work in my favor.

ATWT Dragging out

I know that soaps are used to doing things to story lines that create a dramatic effect but seriously one of the most annoying things they do is drag out one to ridiculous extremes. Like for instance the storyline with Ethan stuck in the pit. Seriously...it took two days for them to get the kid out and only after Paul goes in the pit to try and save him. Come on! Lily's rich, her mother's rich and not one of them thought to fly in the proper equipment and rescue team to save him until more than a day later. Dude that would have my first thought and if they couldn't do that they could have gone outside of the box and used that big digger to go over the pit with a rigged rope to have someone go down there and save him. Let's not even mention the part where the kid has only a few bruises and scratches after falling down a pit that was deep enough to get Holden injured when he was only part way down the hole. I know kids can be resilient but that's just pushing it. Anyway that's my peeve for the day.
